Fix a flat...

2/16/07

I weight trained yesterday (will post the amounts later today). Finally it was nice enough outside to get out my bike. It is strapped in the back of my truck. I had a flat front tire but it was too cold and too dark when I was home to fix it. So I took it to work and fixed it over lunch. I am down to ZERO spare tubes.

The goatheads are killing me. Flats constantly. I need to look into thorn-resistant tires.

Tomorrow I train with TNT Team Albuquerque at Riverpoint Sports. At 7am. Inside. Hell, it will be fun.

Until then, I am beat. I did NO training at all today and feel bad but I know I am above the curve and doing fine. Until later,

Dale

Optimal Heart Rate

Valentine's Day, 2007

Well, I got my Polar Heart Rate Monitor back from getting the battery replaced. Came back in record time. Today's workout had it set my optimal HR to absurdly low levels: Between 107-137 BPM. I was cruising at 145 BPM without a lot of exertion.

So, I calculated it by hand the old fashioned way. The "standard" method is to subtract your age from 220. This is your maximum suggested heart rate (I suppose one bpm above and your heart assplodes!). Then set a range, in my case 70-85% of the rate.

220-43=177
70% of 177=124 (rounded)
85% of 177=150

These numbers jived more with my afternoon workout. Which was a "Brick" or bike and run. I had to do it inside because of the snow. I biked for 30 minutes and ran for 15. The beginning of the run was difficult, especially on the treadmill. But after that, I ran just fine. It was a good workout.

After this, I go to the gym (Los Alamos Fitness Center) for my ABS class and then after that to the library to stuff letters. Then on to the Big Blue Whale for swimming lessons. Hopefully the snow will relax off some and it will be an easy trip home. I anticipate a good night's sleep tonight!

Love and sweat,
Dale

Flat tires and snow

Back from Florida. Will blog more about it, later. Helluva trip.

I pulled out my bike to find a flat tire. I bought a new tube but it was too cold and nasty even if I replaced it. It snowed today. Alright, enough winter for this year! So no training today.

Instead, I did get 100 envelopes addressed and photocopies made. They will be stuffed tomorrow ready for mailing. I figure I can easily address 100 more. Then there are the businesses in Los Alamos to hit.

Hope to swim tomorrow evening. I hated missing lessons yesterday.
